| WLBPD@AADL provides materials and support to Youth and Adult book clubs in the following ways:\\ | * GLS has five virtual book clubs, each led by a volunteer GLS user or a GLS staff member. These include one group exclusively for female readers, one for male readers, and three co-ed groups. Each book club session, lasting between 60 and 90 minutes, is conducted via Zoom or conference call. Each book club typically comprises 3 to 8 members. We advise patrons to contact us directly for upcoming meeting schedules.\\ |
| * Downloads selection(s) onto cartridges for all eligible participants | * All books selected for discussion are sourced from the NLS collection, and members are encouraged to suggest titles. GLS assists members with downloading their chosen books. Additionally, GLS staff meet with group facilitators to exchange ideas and offer recommendations.\\ |
| * If more than one selection is chosen (some book clubs are choosing two selections per meeting), bookshelf instructions are included | |

| Ann Arbor District Library's general collection offers a large selection of Book-Club-to-Go kits (125+). Low-vision book clubs are provided the same contents in accessible formats as AADL BCTG kits whenever possible, though not all BCTG titles are currently available through the NLS. Each kit includes: | |

| * 1 copy of a movie on DVD, if available | |
| * Summary information and reviews of the title(s) | |

| Low-vision book clubs may request any titles available through the NLS collection and with enough notice, if guides are not already prepared, they will be produced. | |

| The book group meets on the first Monday of the month, excluding holidays. We call members up and patch them into a conference call. The discussion usually lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. Patrons can call the library to join the book group or find out what the next title will be. Audio titles are provided to group members. | |

| Brown Bag Talking Book Discussion meets on the second Wednesday of each month, and lasts 60-90 minutes. People bring their lunches to eat while discussing. | |

| Two talking books are discussed each meeting. Readers can read both, either, or neither of the books. Sighted people reading a print version of the book are also welcome at the discussion. | |

| Every month, the group gets a lists of five possible talking books for discussion. Each person is allowed to vote for two books. The two books with the highest votes are passed out at the following month's meeting, and are discussed at the meeting following. The selection of five books usually includes: one nonfiction book, one historical fiction book, one mystery, and two other books from various categories. | |

| At the meeting, a large print handout is provided that gives the book summaries for today's discussion, next month's books, and the five books to vote on. Braille copies can be provided if a user notifies the library at least one business day in advance. | |

| * The book group meets for an hour on the afternoon of the 2nd Tuesday in January, March, May, July, September, and November. Participants call a toll-free number and are connected to a conference call. The discussion is led by a librarian from the Library for the Blind and Disabled.\\ | |

| * We require that the books discussed be available in DB format and prefer that they also be available in Braille and Large Print if possible. We ask participants to suggest books they would like to discuss, and then the participants select the next book from a list of possible titles. We provide copies of the book for patrons of the Library for the Blind, but not for other participants.\\ | |

| *Our Book Club is currently meeting six times per year (every couple of months). We always have it on a Thursday or Tuesday at 7:00 pm Central time and it lasts one hour via conference call. We have a toll-free phone number so those of our patrons that want to participate can call in from anywhere in Texas at the time of the book club. They don't need to have a computer or any type of special technology. All they need is a phone. | *Our Book Club meets six times per year (every other month), typically on a Tuesday or Thursday from 7:00-8:00 p.m. central time. We use Zoom and patrons can join via personal computer or dial-in with their phone. The phone number is not toll-free, so we recommend that patrons use a smartphone or cell phone rather than a landline if possible. |

| *We send an email blast six weeks before the date of each book club and patrons contact us if they want to RSVP. We send them the book, or they download the title from BARD depending on their preference. One week before the book club, the patrons that RSVPd get a reminder via email or phone (or both if they wish). | |

We usually have a list of questions to generate discussion and we always have a lively, chatty crowd with stimulating conversation. We ask patrons to register ahead of time to ensure they have the correct information to join our session. During the registration process, we confirm if they will need us to send them the book or if they plan to download it using BARD. We also ask how they would like to be reminded of the event: email, phone call, or both. |
