Position title: Machine Services Clerk

Job Description Summary: Inventory, testing and distribution of talking book playback equipment. Entering equipment transactions in the computer, ordering parts and keeping volunteer repair centers supplied with materials. Providing technical support to patrons using the digital playback equipment and the audio download services available.
Responsibilities to include:
Inventory incoming shipments of new machines, enter ID numbers accurately in the computer and acknowledge receipt of equipment.
Prepare machines for shipping to sub-lending agencies and individual patrons by checking to ensure that each operates properly and is packed in proper containers for mailing.
Inventory all program equipment received on a daily basis, enter in the computer, check for defects, clean, perform minor repairs, and identify major defects for equipment repairmen.
Replace defective equipment or recover equipment from inactive patrons.
Request parts and supplies from Library of Congress or multi-state center.
Receive and inventory parts. Ship parts and supplies to repair centers in a timely manner.
Arrange for machine repair with repair centers and ship/deliver machines to repair centers.
Receive, check and place repaired machines back into circulation.
Process patron requests for access to BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download) and update patron BARD accounts.
Provide technical support for use of machines and for downloading audio files from NLS BARD and Greater Phoenix Digital Library.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Other duties as assigned.
Note: This position is uncovered and exempt from Arizona State Personnel Rules.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience:
Must be skilled in accurate record keeping and have the ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
Knowledge of complex office, inventory and clerical procedures.
Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal relationship skills.
Keyboarding ability and experience using computers.
Ability to learn how to download audio files to various types of digital players and to provide technical support to patrons using the devices.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Three years of clerical experience preferred. Related education/training may substitute for required experience.
